Finally, with regard to eating the flesh of swine: we are not prohibited from it, as the Jews are, by observance of the Law of Moses. But he who eats thereof, we do not despise or consider unclean; and him who doesnt eat thereof, we do not compel to it, as our father Paul wrote to the Romans saying, Do not let him that eats, despise him that does not eat; and do not let him that does not eat, judge him that eats: because God has received him (Romans 14:3). For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). And Matthew the Evangelist says, That which goes into the mouth does not defile a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. Do you still not understand, that whatever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? (Matthew 15:17-20).
Thus, He makes all food clean. When we spoke these words, He destroyed all of the structure of the error of the Jews, who are taught from the Book of the Law.
My faith is also the faith of my faithful priests, who teach by my command, within my Kingdom. And they neither depart from the way of the Gospel, nor from the doctrine of our father, Paul; neither to the right, nor to the left.
And in the book of history, it is written, that King Constantine commanded, in the day of his kingdom, that all baptized Jews must eat swines flesh, on the day of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. According, however, as it shall seem fit to every man, he may abstain from the eating of animal food. There are some who delight in the flesh of fowl; and there are some who abstain from eating the flesh of sheep. Thus, every man, as it seems good unto him, follows his own inclination. This is the good will and pleasure of men. And touching the eating of animal food, there is no law or canon in the New Testament: All is clean, to the clean (Titus 1:15). And Paul also says, Let him that believes, eat all things (Romans 14:2).
